bg paint

This was the second last painting for class, I really enjoyed working on this one, and I still kind of like the end product, but I learned a lot after the critique. I'm missing a whole bunch of shadows and there are quite a few technical errors in it but I'm proud of my composition and despite being too light, those trees in the foreground are a big improvement from my last attempt at trees.

So basically I started off with a sketch, added in some temporary colour, and started to paint. I tackled the trees first and then hit the foliage in the BG, added the mountain and then some vines.

Got one more painting to do before this class ends, I hope I can pull it off better than this one!

thunderrrrrrrrbirrrrdddd

woah what a huge challenge! This car assignment drove me up a wall, I can see the flaws, but I am really proud at how the chrome turned out. I went from grayscale to colour this time..and with this car I put a lot more time in blending it. This was a take on a 1957 Ford Thunderbird. This painting reminds me of how badly I need to get my licence.

Started off painting the body with a low flow brush after some quick flats, body, hood tires, chrome took me the longest but I think it turned out great, especially for my first ever chrome attempt. Once I had the whole car painted, I added colour and voila!

euughh creature....

Next digital painting, a painting I really don't think should BE up here...... but its a requirement...

This assignment was supposed to be a painting of a creature. I happened to not have any ideas on what kind of creature to do, so I ended up designing something I really hated, but with the time constraints I had to move forward. When I'm not keen on the subject matter I dont want to paint it and I think it showed.. The idea of the assigment had so much potential, but i couldnt get over an idea block. this was one of my weakest designs. Character design is my absolute favoritesubject so it was a real dissapointment when I couldnt come up with something of a higher standard. I try really hard in this class for the most part, digital painting isn't my favorite but I have learned a TON. I do however, love how the staff turned out! This assignment taught me how to paint metallic surfaces! word up.

the paint job is weak, but I did challenge myself. I've never stylized muscles or done a character this muscular before..the uh..squid thing, also out of my usual zone...hahaha oh well! next time!
